Oh… where to start?
For the sake of being vague and all-encompassing, Zen Witch is all that has ever resonated with me. I’ve never been baptized, I have no structured belief and I’m very put off by many things man created/ altered… especially anything to do with churchianity. My spirituality will always be evolving, but lately I have seen so much alignment in my thinking and the way I personally practice my Path and my Craft. And I’m finally comfortable in sharing this side of me. Even if no one reads this.
Zen Witch is a combination of the best of many spiritual worlds. It’s about weaving and melding what works best for me. There are elements of Pagan, Wiccan, Native, Hindu, Buddhism and who knows what else… celestialism… is that a thing?! I’m sure there will be more influences along the way. But I take what I need, learning and embracing what speaks to me. In my mind, separate notions from varying cultures isn’t something that should divide or condemn but should be educational and accepted. My way or their way is not the only way. What works for me may hinder another’s. That’s the beauty of eclecticism in spiritual practice. It’s the take it or leave it approach. I take what feels right, incorporate it into my spiritual practice, and then leave the rest behind. And if, for any reason I want to tweak something, it’s my right to do as I see fit.
As a stargazing, spherical, dirt dweller, I’m a minimalist in practice, cast a Circle, honor the directions, and give thanks to the Divine. The more I dive in, the more I realize I am entirely solitary. I honor the Earth, my higher power, which is entirely personal and private to me, the elements, and elementals etc. The native culture emphasizes harmony with nature, endurance of suffering (much like in Buddhism), respect and non- interference toward others, a strong belief that man is inherently good and should be respected for his decisions. The pipe (which i have not participated in) was smoked in personal prayer and during collective rituals, and both of these uses commonly began with invocations to the six directions: east, south, west, north, skyward, and earthward. I’m vibrantly learning, projecting, embodying all things in crystals, trance work, tantra and yoga, chants, symbols & sigils, tarot, divination, astrology, and lunar phases. In Zen Witchery, I practice grounding and centering, visualization, mindfulness, and awareness. I look forward to diving in further with auras, karma, dreamwork, astral travel, and divination which all go hand in hand with spells, charms, herbalism (which I’ve learned from my father) and healing.
I practice elements of Zen, a likenesses to Witchcraft, especially for it’s transformative self-discovery and ability to transcend. It is a way of living by blending both body and mind. For finding the true nature of your spirit. Zen is about finding balance and practicing mindfulness in everyday life. It’s a guide to living which expands awareness of my true self, my higher self, while acknowledging my unique oneness with the universe, the earth, and all the things in between. It’s about being kind to yourself and others. It’s about being a good person. This. Is. Paramount.
So, with all that said you can call me many things along the lines of a solitary, secular, hedge witch that’s Eclectic and green in nature but that’s a bit of a mouthful, yeah?
